- The Philemon Letter is an addendum to the Colossians letter and it reveals a beautiful love story. Paul preached the gospel to Onesimus, a runaway slave, and called him “a faithful and beloved brother.” So strong was his conversion that he became a co-worker with Paul in prison (Col 4:9; Phm 10-13).
- Let’s express compassion to all people, not looking at social classes, as we are all brethren (Mt 23:8; Heb 2:11-12). And Paul records that in the church, in the new man, there is neither bond nor free, but Christ is all in all (Col 3:11).
- We receive Christ to dwell in our heart, taking control of our soul (mind, emotion and will), rooting ourselves in the love of God (Col 3:15-17; Eph 3:17).
- “Therefore the word of truth is what man most needs. The human being today is disconnected from God,devoid of truth, without reality. The gospel is good news, the good news for those destitute of the truth, because the gospel is the word of truth!” (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 4, Thursday, p. 63).
