1. God spoke by the Son during His time here on earth, and what He spoke did the work of God; the word was inside that Man. The two disciples who were going to Emmaus talked to Jesus after His resurrection, but they only recognized Him later, because of the word that was in Him. Jesus is the very speaking of God, not the dead, doctrinal word. When His word is spoken, it burns in our hearts! (Luke 24:32)
2. After being resurrected, Jesus continued speaking, showing the disciples that His presence was no longer physical, but was in the word. The presence of the Word is the presence of the Lord. When the first church was generated, Jesus never physically appeared again, as God now wants to use the church. God continues to this day to speak through the Son, who uses a man as a channel. (Acts 1:2-3; Heb 1:1-2)
3. Then comes the prophetic word in the New Testament, through the church. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, preached salvation in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:8-12). He was used to open the door of salvation to Gentiles who believed and were baptized into the Body of Christ.
