DAILY IMMERSION Sunday | M03. The Works of the “Prophetess”Jezebel
God has always spoken. When God speaks, His work is accomplished. God has spoken by the Son and continues to speak by Him. The word that Jesus spoke did not come from Him, but from the Father, and when Jesus spoke, the Father’s work was done. That’s what’s happening today. The Lord uses the Word to inspire His prophets. It is the Spirit of Truth who inspires and has authority over the church (Heb 1:1-2; Jn 14:10; 15:20; 2 Pet 1:19).
The apostles lead through the prophetic word, which is inspired by the Holy Spirit. When the prophetic word ceases, so does the leadership. How terrible it is to have no direction. Thank God, we have guidance through the prophetic word (1 Cor 12:28).
Man’s problem is the dispute over who is first, because they love primacy – the hierarchy has damaged the church. Thus came the work of the Nicolaitans, which developed over the years until Jezebel appeared, who claimed to be a prophetess who spoke for God and added evil, heretical and pagan teachings to the word of God. This is a great warning for us (Acts 20:17, 28; Rev 2:6, 15, 20-23; 17:1-2).
The Lord has always preserved a tenuous line, the line of life, in each age. These are the so-called “rest of Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine” (Rev. 2:24). This shows that in every church, in every age, God always keeps a group of overcomers. (Daily Food, Book 2, Week 3, Sunday, p. 54).
