1. Nehemiah achieved a high position in the Persian kingdom; however, his concern was not to have a high position or a good life. His heart was toward God, His people, and Jerusalem (Neh. 1:1-4).
2. God is powerful. He can do all things! When everything seemed lost for the people of Israel, God raised up Cyrus, a king committed to rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:1-4).
3. After King Cyrus’ decree, a minority of the people prepared to go up and build the House of the Lord in Jerusalem. This is also our story, we were scattered throughout Babylon, but one day the Lord called us and we returned to Jerusalem, to build the Church (Ezra 1:1-5).
4. We need to trust the prophetic word and accept it with humility and simplicity, following the direction of the Spirit with total obedience. (Daily Food, Book 2, week 3, Monday, page. 40).
