- Those who suffer for righteousness’ sake receive the care of the Shepherd and Overseer of their souls. Sufferings are part of the judgment of God’s government over His church, for the purpose of testing faith, with a view to final approval, the salvation of the soul (1 Peter 2:25; 1:7-9).
- The Lord’s coming has become more concrete for us. Therefore, let us increasingly live a sober, judicious life to bring the Lord back. Our money, energy, and time should be for this purpose (1 Peter 4:7).
- Time serves to do God’s will with Christ leading all things. We live under the count of time, because God has not yet managed to fulfill His will on earth. Our struggle must be to make Christ head us up in the church life (Ephesians 5:23).
- The church will only fulfill God’s will if it walks in truth. Jesus prayed to the Father, “Sanctify them through Your truth; Your word is truth” (John 17:17). We walk in truth by the word. The truth washes us, removes impurities from us, and puts divine elements within us (Eph. 5:26). (Daily Food, Book 1, Friday, p. 16).
