- When we receive the word by faith, believing it to be the word of God, it works in us effectively. This is how we work. Whenever we immerse ourselves by faith in the word, speaking it to one another, we work on the land, and our faith grows (1 Thess. 2:13; Eph. 5:18b-19; 2 Pet. 1:8).
- When the apostle’s word is abandoned, God’s work stops. God’s work comes through the apostles’ speaking. It is not through mere biblical knowledge or the ability to teach biblical knowledge. God’s work is accomplished by the living speaking of God (Acts 2:42, 47).
- We can have all the knowledge of the Bible, but if we do not have an apostle truly sent by God in each age to speak for God, to be His voice, even with all the commandments and statutes, God’s people will not move. We need a living voice from God (John 5:39-40).
- In John 6:63 we read, “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.” “Words” here is “rhema” in Greek, indicating that the word the Lord speaks through a prophet is to meet the present need of the church. Those who receive and believe this word allow it to do God’s work (John 6:63). (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 3, Thursday, p. 48).
