DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Friday | Mess. 05 – The Emergence of the Root of the Church’s Degradation in the Second Century

Few were like Timothy, who appreciated the word that gives direction to the church; and many were those who did parallel work. The main reason for the degradation of the church was this: not giving value to the word that God speaks. (2 Tim 3:10).
All seven letters to the churches in Revelation begin with what the Lord says to them and end with “let him who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches”. We must always be close to the teaching of the apostles and have fellowship in this teaching (Rev 2:1, 7, 8, 11, 12, 17, 18, 29; 3:1, 6, 7, 13, 14, 22; Acts 2:42).
Rejection of the prophetic word paves the way for other damage to the church: losing the first love and having the work of the Nicolaitans. The first love is lost when the love for the word is lost, because the love of God is in the word, and without the word, those who support the practice of the Nicolaitans emerge (Rev 2:4, 6).
“By eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man began to live based on his logic, but Jesus presented the disciples with another way: following the Spirit”. (Daily Food, Book 2, Week 3, Friday, page 50).
