- Paul speaks of the cultivated field and the building. The cultivated field refers to the divine life sown in us and to the growth of the true vine to reach the whole world. God also wants to build us as God’s building, not by using dead materials, but living stones. This building is the Body of Christ and we grow based on love from the Head, who is Christ (1 Cor 3:9-10; Eph 4:15-16).
- Peter states that we have been born again of incorruptible seed and are now living stones for building. Christ is the living stone on which we are built, the Word of life, and eternal life itself; moreover, He is also the seed that has regenerated us for a living hope (1 Pet. 1:3, 23; 2:5).
- We were clay and were useless for edification, but we have received eternal life through regeneration, that is to say, the seed of life, which transforms us into living stones for building. Furthermore, through the transformation of the soul carried out by the Spirit, we will be precious stones that are built on the foundation that is Jesus Christ (1 Cor 3:11-12).
- After the resurrection, a living relationship began to exist between us and our Lord Jesus: we became His brothers! (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 3, Friday, p. 50).
