- Husband and wife have a common domestic and daily life, and it is in this life that both are most exposed and the greatest conflicts arise. Therefore, the common life of the home needs to be lived with discernment and both must treat each other with dignity, knowing that they are heirs of the same grace of life (1 Peter 3:7).
- A marital relationship cannot survive on passion alone. It must give rise to a more serious and solid relationship. A relationship must be built with a lot of understanding, sacrifice, patience and, above all, with the love of God. He who loves his wife loves himself (Eph 5:25-30).
- Husband and wife are spiritual companions; one must help the other to receive the inheritance. Because both are joint heirs of the same grace of life. If one falls, the other lifts him up. If one is discouraged, the other encourages. This is the purpose of marriage, not excluding the Lord’s command to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth (Eccl 4:9-10; Gen 1:28).
- Today, the word is fundamental for the edification of the church. That is why the last thing the Lord said to the church in Thyatira is also for us: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev 2:29). This is a warning and an appeal from the Spirit, because degradation occurs when we stop listening to the prophetic speaking (He who has an ear, let him hear. Lessons from Sardis in Revelation, Background I, p. 31).
