DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Monday | Mess. 21 – Do Not Think It Strange Concerning the Fiery Trial Which Is to Try You

  1. The Lord Jesus used the apostle Peter, along with the other apostles, to do an excellent work in the early church. The outstanding elements of this work came through the church following God’s government through the word ministered by the eleven, led by Peter. The disciples devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers. Thus, the Spirit was free to produce the early church in Jerusalem (Acts 2:42).
  1. The first difficulty faced by the apostle Peter was within the church itself, with the Judaizers arguing that he had gone to the homes of the Gentiles and eaten with them. However, Peter showed that it was God who had sent him to the Gentiles, so that they, by believing in Jesus, would also be introduced into the Body of Christ (Acts 11:1-18).
  1. The apostle Paul, at the end of his first missionary journey, also had difficulties with the Jews who observed the law of Moses, who tried to impose on the Gentile believers that they should be circumcised in order to receive salvation. But Paul and Barnabas went up to Jerusalem to defend the faith, through which we believe and receive salvation by the grace of the Lord Jesus and not by practices of the law (Acts 15:1-11).
  1. The apostle Paul told the Ephesians, “In Him you also, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit after you believed” (Eph. 1:13). By believing in Jesus and hearing the word of truth, the gospel of salvation preached to us, we receive eternal life with the seal of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God (Daily Food, Book 1, Monday, p. 23).
