- Today we follow the same principles as the early church: they persevered in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship in that teaching. They did not speak their own words, out of their own eloquence or wisdom, but followed the “oracle of God,” that is, what God spoke through the apostles (Acts 2:42).
- Prophesying is speaking about God and manifesting God in speaking under His direct revelation. Prophesying, teaching, and exhorting are types of speaking for the edification of the Body. They minister the supply of life to the saints so that they may grow together by the word of God (Romans 12:6).
- Nothing should be done by the strength of man, our sufficiency comes from God, for we are ministers of a new covenant, of the Spirit. Everything comes from God and we must follow closely, ruminate and practice the word. All glory be to God, He is the One who rules over all! (2 Corinthians 3:5-6).
- These words cannot become mere doctrine. Christ must govern us through His word. This happens through immersion, when we inculcate the word in our hearts. In this way He can establish in us a foundation of love. We were once rooted in the evil world, but God wants to tear us out of it and root us in His love (Ephesians 3:17; Galatians 1:4) (Daily Food, Book 1, Sunday, p. 20).
