- Elders should not shepherd out of compulsion, but serve out of love for people, voluntarily. Not for sordid greed, not for greed, and not for profit. We are here to serve the Lord. Not as dominators, but as models. Whoever wants to be the greatest must be the one who serves others. We need to have the spirit of servants, not of lords. Let us not make the church our fiefdom, our kingdom. The church belongs to God (1 Pet. 5:2-3).
- Every flock needs models. Sheep follow the model. The leading sheep, who are models, understand and recognize the voice of the shepherd. Let us be the model for the flock, a reference. We are not those who lord it over the flock, because only Jesus is our Lord! (1 Pet. 5:4).
- We will receive our crown. Nothing is in vain. The Lord is watching and seeing those who are giving their lives for the flock. Those who serve the church well, as pastors, do not need a title and will be approved. Even teenagers are already concerned about taking care of the flock. We will receive a crown that does not lose its value (1 Cor. 9:24-25).
- The church life has an atmosphere of joy and simplicity, because “the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Anyone who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by men” (Rom. 14:17-18). Thanks to the Lord, we can already enjoy the reality of the kingdom of heaven in advance by living the wonderful church life! Let us fight for the manifestation of the kingdom!
