- As pilgrims, we live on the Earth and should summit ourselves to human institutions for the Lord’s sake. Those that oppose authority resist what is ordained by God (1 Pet 2:12-17).
- We have a Lord that governs us and controls even our tongue and our actions. We should not use our freedom for malice and evil conduct but rather should live as servants of God because we have a Lord to whom we will give account (Rom 13:1-2).
- We must treat everyone with honor. Keep slander and defamation far from us because they are Satan’s instruments to attack God’s children. We must love all brothers and sisters, fear God who is the One we must obey, and honor the authorities (Heb 9:20; Rom 13:4).
- “Let us worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will bring its concerns. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble […]. God will sustain us and care for us all” (Daily Food, Volume 6, Week 4, Thursday, page 65).
