DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Thursday | Mess. 22 – Jesus’ Crucifixion
Even on the cross, in the midst of agony and suffering, Jesus worried about His mother, demonstrating a high humanity. He said to her, “Woman, behold your son,” and He said to the disciple John, “Behold your mother.” From then on, Mary, who until then was alone and unassisted, began to be cared for by John. Jesus cares about those close to Him (John 19:25-27; Mark 15:40; Matthew 27:56).
Mary and John were very close to the cross. Also follow Jesus and His Word closely! ( John 19:25-27; Mark 15:40; Matthew 27:56 ).
We have no idea what death by crucifixion is like. Jesus spent six hours stretched out on the cross, carrying the entire weight of His body on the nails fixed in His hands and feet. It wasn’t five or ten minutes of suffering, but rather six hours. He suffered out of love for us (John 19:17-24).
“God has compassion on us, knows us and knows that we are fragile. That’s why He makes a covenant of peace with us. Let us be at peace!” (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 4, Thursday, page 66).
