- Paul emphasizes Philemon’s love and faith for the Lord Jesus and all the saints. Paul’s prayer was that Philemon’s fellowship of faith would bring about a full knowledge of all the good we have in union with Christ. (Fm 4-7).
- When a person full of God’s love preaches the gospel and takes care of someone out of love, a fabric of love is made that intertwines them, just as it was with God, Paul and Onesimus (Phm 8-12). We perceive the intensity and veracity of the love generated in this spiritual relationship.
- This is what must happen in the church life. Despite many wrong things committed in the past, today we can generate this intense relationship of love in the church (John 8:10-11). But this is only generated if we follow the truth in love in the Head, Christ, immersed in His Word (Eph. 4: 15-16).
- “It’s no use trying to fill the void with the things of this world, but you have to use faith to seek things from above, spiritual and heavenly things, where God is. Only the word of truth fills our void.” (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 4, Saturday, p. 68).
