DAILY IMMERSION Tuesday | Message 04 –The Reconstruction of the Temple and the Walls of Jerusalem

1. When Zerubbabel went to restore the temple and Nehemiah built the walls of Jerusalem, they had only the poor Jews who had been left in the city. They did not have great human or financial resources, but they depended completely on the Lord (Neh 1:1-3).

2. “Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” We are in humble beginnings. The work that we have seen in our midst is not ours, but the Lord’s (Zech 4:6-10).

3. The desolation of Jerusalem’s walls demonstrated that the city lacked government. Without government, Jerusalem became a no man’s land and people could enter and leave freely, even though the temple had already been rebuilt (Neh 1:1-3).

4. If anyone imagines that they are very capable of helping God do His work, they are sadly mistaken. We do not have strength and we do not even have the capacity to think anything (2 Cor 3:5) ( Daily Food, Book 2, Week 2, Tuesday, p. 42 ).
