1. All the enemies around Jerusalem were unhappy with the rebuilding of the city. When we are rebuilding the walls, the enemies around us don’t calm down. But Jerusalem is no man’s land. There God’s command is followed. The one who gives us success in the task of making Christ head up all things is God (Ne 2:19-20; Ep 1:22-23).
2. Nehemiah was willing and the good hand of God blessed him. Because there was a voice of command, the people began to work, one rebuilding alongside the other. Each one did their part, alongside their brother. They worked together, but each one was aware of their responsibility in building (Ne 3:1-32).
3. Faced with the attacks suffered, Nehemiah’s attitude was to pray to God. We do not use the same weapons of darkness, such as lies and defamation. At this time, we only count on our God, who was certainly listening to the mockery and lies spread by the enemies. Our response to the enemy’s attacks is prayer (Ne 4:1-9; Lk 23:1-12).
4. When the church actually has Christ as its head, it will be His platform, used by Him to fill everything else. (Ep 1:22-23) ( Daily Food, Book 2, Week 4, Wednesday, p. 61 )
