- We have a nature within us that leads us to sin, and God’s commandments in the Old Testament accentuates sin. If we live in the flesh, we will continue to live under the slavery of sin. Faith is related to the Spirit, and living in the realm of faith gives Him the opportunity to work miracles (Rom 7:5,18; Gal 3:5).
- If we want to live by the law, we will never leave the realm of the flesh and sin. Our only way out is to die to the law. When Christ died for us on the cross, our old man died with Him, and today, Christ lives in us, so we can live in newness of life (Gal 2:19; Rom 6:4).
- When we began our life with the Lord, we were simple, but as time went by, we began to acquire knowledge and trust in our ability and experience. Let us not place our trust in this. Let us not lose our simplicity. Let us trust only in the Spirit. We had a beginning in the Spirit; we are not going to be perfected in the flesh (Gal 3:3; Phil. 3:3).
- “When we are disciplined, let us not lose heart, but seek to be more obedient to the Lord and to His word. Jesus Himself learned obedience through the things he suffered. We too have suffered to become more obedient” (Heb 5:7-8) (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 1, Friday, p. 15).
