1. Through the priesthood exercised by Christ in heaven, we have access to God and forgiveness of sins. Therefore, let us be strongly comforted and encouraged! We can run to the refuge—a safe harbor—where we cast the anchor of our soul. We live in the world, but we are not of it. The world offers us no stability; like we were upon water, without stability (Psalm 110:4).
2. Like a boat on the water, if you have no anchor, you will be adrift. Your soul is unstable. On Earth, there is no safe place to cast an anchor, but Christ, our High Priest, has accomplished redemption and is in the heavenly Holy of Holies. This is the only safe place where we can cast the anchor of our soul! (Heb. 2:17-18).
3. Our souls are unstable, and our emotions are easily shaken. We need a safe and secure refuge. The soul cannot remain adrift. Thank God, we have a High Priest who is in heaven! Let us cast our anchor there, and we will be safe. We are not adrift. We have direction! We know where we are going! (Heb. 6:18-20).
4. “Our mission is to bring the kingdom of God, through the gospel of the kingdom, to the ends of the Earth (Acts 1:8). And how do we do this? By the power of the Holy Spirit. That is why we are the “Stephens” of this present age: people full of faith. We do not go out to make disciples by our own skill, but by the power of the Spirit” (Daily Food, book 1, week 2, Sunday, p. 38).
