1. In Revelation 22 we see a river flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb to supply God’s people. This shows us that the Lord’s authority exists to shepherd His people, care for them, and provide for their needs. This is how God reigns (Revelation 22:1-2).
2. As they prepared for their meeting with Pharaoh, Joseph instructed his brothers to inform him that they were shepherds. The Egyptians had a cultural aversion to this activity; nevertheless, Jacob’s sons did not hide or distort the truth about what they did. The Lord wanted to strengthen them in that land and opened a way for Pharaoh to receive them and even entrust them with the care of his flocks (Genesis 46:32-34; 47:3-6).
3. Birthright involves three privileges: kingship, priesthood, and a double portion of the inheritance. However, among the children of Israel, the blessing was distributed: Joseph received a double portion of the land, Levi received the priesthood, but the most important aspect was for Judah: kingship and the right to participate in the lineage of Christ. We cannot despise or renounce the Birthright (Genesis 49:10).
4. “In the right of the firstborn is the blessing of the Lord. By exercising it, we inherit, above all, the blessing granted by God to Abraham. We were blessed with Abraham, and wherever we go, we also carry the blessing to reach the families of the Earth” (Genesis 12:2-3) (Daily Food, book 9, week 2, Saturday, page 36).
