- There are some people that become indifferent to the word of the Lord, yet they only cause damage to themselves. However, mockers contaminate others with their scorn, and because of this,one day the Lord will require this of them. Let us be like the Thessalonians that welcomed the word and thus it operated effectively in them (2 Pet 2:3; Gal 6:7; 1 Thess 2:13).
- Mockers allege that the word of God has not been fulfilledbecause the Lord Jesus still has not returned and that the world is the same as it has been from the beginning. The flood in the time of Noah registers the execution of God’s judgment on the world. God will judge all those that refuse to believe in His word (2 Pet 3:4-6,9; Deut 18:19).
- The Word of God is able to cause a person to be a partaker of the divine nature. That power is not in beautiful words but in the word of God. Those that practice immersion in the word are freed from the lusts that are in the world. In ourselves we do not have this power, but the divine nature can free us from those lusts (2 Pet 1:3-4; 1 Cor 2:4).
- “From the moment we believe in Jesus and receive Him, there is within us a new creature, the new man. We must stop living by the old man that we carry within us and live by the new man. Jesus then will fill us with His life” (2 Cor 5:17; Eph 4;22-24; Gal 4:19) (Daily Food, Book 2, Week 4, Friday, pg. 68).
