- The walls of Jerusalem rebuilt under Nehemiah’s leadership reestablish God’s government there. Being within the walls means placing yourself under the government of God’s word. It all depends on how you hear and receive the word. The wall does not exclude any child of God from the church (1 Thess. 2:13; Nehemiah 2:17; 7:1).
- The Thessalonians heard the word of the apostle Paul, but that word was indeed from God! If you believe that the word Paul spoke was the word of God and accept that word, it will indeed work effectively in you, and the authority of the Holy Spirit will work in you, and the government of God will work over you (1 Thess 2:13).
- When God begins to govern His people, practical matters arise that need to be resolved, and there is a need for brothers and sisters to serve God. Therefore, now is the time for everyone to function. It is not enough to simply understand that God’s word establishes God’s government and then remain comfortable in our secular lives. Let us all function in the services of the church! (Neh. 7:1; Rom. 12:5 8, 11).
- “At times Satan raises up with his stratagems against God’s children, but if we have a spiritual companion at our side, we will resist his attacks more effectively: “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Eccl. 4:12) (Daily Food, Book 5, Week 2, Friday, p. 32).
