- The second chapter of Philippians reveals what God wants to accomplish among us: He wants to stimulate and energize us through the encouragement of Christ, the comfort of love, the fellowship of the Spirit, affection and compassion, so that His joy may be complete (Phil. 2:1-2).
- Fulfilling the joy of the Lord means fulfilling God’s will for His church. This will is for everyone to think the same thing, to be united in soul and have the same feeling (Phil 2:2-4).
- When the church reaches this stage, of unity in thinking, feeling, and living, Christ will be able to fully head it up, for everyone will be on the same wavelength. And from this point on, He will be able to head up all things in the universe (Phil. 2:1-4; Eph. 1:9-10).
- “Throughout the Bible we see that God, in doing His work and transmitting His word, uses a channel, a man. He uses and sends man to speak and carry out His work. Yet men look upon the one sent by God as merely a man and begin to have doubts about whether the message he conveys is indeed a message from God. This was true in both the Old Testament and the New Testament” (Luke 9:9 18; 13:34; 2 Pet 1:20-21) (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 2, Friday, p. 35).
