1. It is important to understand the context of Peter’s epistles, which were intended to remind their recipients of the words he had ministered at the beginning. These were the prophetic words that give us direction. Peter also warned the recipients of his epistles to beware of false teachers, who only criticized and invented fables to undermine the ministry of Peter and John; they even doubted the word about the return of the Lord Jesus (2 Pet. 1:16-21).
2. The apostle Peter writes in his second letter that the scattered brothers and sisters did well to heed the prophetic word. It is the only light the church has for direction in the midst of the dark night, and by following it, we will reach the dawn, which is the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is no other direction that will lead us to this destination. Therefore, brothers and sisters, let us love the prophetic word! (2 Peter 1:19).
3. There is no neutral position in the work of God! The Spirit is like the wind, which blows wherever it pleases. We do not know where it comes from or where it is going. God wants our lives and service to be those who are born of the Spirit and follow the “wind.” All we need to do is stand still to resist the blowing of the wind, and so it is with respect to the work of God. Let us not be neutral. We cannot create any resistance to what the Spirit will accomplish in the church and in the work of the Lord (John 3:8).
4. “Man was created as a vessel to contain God, so that the excellence of the power may be from God and not from us (2 Cor. 4:7). The Lord only needs us to have a broken, repentant, and humble heart to receive Him. God is the Almighty. We have finally found the way, let us let God complete His purpose.” (Isa. 66:2) (Daily Food, Book 2, Sem. 2, Friday, p. 32) .
