DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Friday | Msg. 27 – Circumcision and the Promise of a Son to Sarah

1. We were dead in our transgressions because we lived under the bondage of sin. But today, through the death and resurrection of Christ and the putting off of the flesh, circumcision has already taken place for us, and now we walk in the presence of the Lord (Colossians 2:13; Ephesians 2:1, 4-5).

2. Circumcision is not merely a cutting of the physical flesh. God desires the circumcision of the heart. We need to circumcise our hearts so that we do not act according to the strength of the flesh or our own abilities. Let us never trust in the flesh. If we want to serve the Lord properly, we must circumcise our hearts (Deuteronomy 10:16; Jeremiah 4:4).

3. When we do not heed the Lord’s words, our hearts and ears become uncircumcised. We realize this when our ears are no longer inclined to hear the Lord. Therefore, it is vitally important to listen to the Lord diligently; otherwise, our hearts will become hardened (Acts 7:51; Matthew 13:14).

4. “The knowledge of good and evil inevitably leads to death. It is bait for man, a lure. In fishing, something tasty is placed on the hook to attract the fish, not an empty hook. In the same way, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was Satan’s bait” (Genesis 2:9, 17; Deuteronomy 30:19) (Daily Food, book 3, week 1, Friday, p. 15).
