1. The rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem was quick, but it was an intense period of many attacks, marked by much fighting and risk of death. However, God gave success to the builders. The wall was finally rebuilt and the gates were installed, so that Jerusalem would have a boundary within which, God’s government could now be established (Nehemiah 6:15).
2. In the church, the Holy Spirit must have authority. How is the authority of the Holy Spirit established in the church? It is established when the word of God is spoken through His apostles or prophets to the churches. It is this word of command that we obey; thus, the authority of the Holy Spirit comes through the word of God (Rev. 2:7a; Exod. 19:5).
3. When we have God’s government, order is established. Just like the Lord Jesus, who put things in order wherever He went during His earthly ministry. When the kingdom of God arrives, the authority of the King and His government also arrives. Now is the time to put things in order “within the wall of Jerusalem” (Matt. 4:17; Neh. 7:1-4).
4. “The tree of life was intended to enable man, by eating of its fruit, to receive within himself the divine life; thus, God Himself would govern humanity through His life within man” (Gen. 2:9; John 6:57) (Daily Food, Book 5, Week 3, Monday, p. 40).
