- Just as the bronze serpent was exposed in the desert, God’s mission is to highlight the cross of Christ, because it is the central point of the truth of the Gospel. We need to preach the Gospel, so that the crucifixion of Christ is shown to people, and thus they are saved and healed (Num 21:8-9; Jo 3:14-15; Gal 3:1).
- The law couldn’t save anyone. God, then, sent His Own Son, who came in the flesh and died for our sins. Jesus only took the likeness of the flesh of sin, but in Him there was no sin at all. Let us not turn to the law, because we already died with Christ. Let us live for God (Rom 8:3; Gal 2:19).
- God’s solution is to free us from sinful flesh by the cross of Christ. There is no point in trying to improve our behavior on our own. By ourselves, we will never be free from sin. The cross is our salvation; the cross is our cure! (Rom 8:3; Num 21:8-9)
- “Sufferings are not punishments from God, but a way in which He can transform us in order to become participants in His holiness. In these situations, instead of being discouraged, let us seek to be more obedient to the Lord and to the word”. (1Pe 1:6-7) (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 1, Monday, page 5).
