1. The recipients of the apostle Peter’s two letters were those who were in the first stage of the church’s life in Jerusalem: a vigorous church life, a model church life for all of us, in which the Spirit had freedom of action, because the church was open to the speaking of the Lord through the apostles, and everyone continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and in fellowship around that teaching (1 Pet 1:1; 2 Pet 1:1; Acts 2:42-44).
2. The Holy Spirit also baptized the Gentiles who believed within Cornelius’s house into the same body. Thus, finally, the church, as the body of Christ, no longer distinguishes between Jews and Greeks, nor between any race, cultural level or social group (Acts 10:44; 1 Cor. 12:13; Col. 3:11).
3. The prophetic word is the only living word that leads the church until the Lord’s return. This word is like a lamp that shines in a dark place, and we have no other direction to follow if we do not have the prophetic word. Thank God, brothers and sisters, today the church has a clear direction (2 Peter 1:19).
4. “The word of the cross is the power of God! Through faith we died with Christ and were raised with Him. So, we no longer live under the slavery of sin but in newness of life through the resurrection of Christ” (1 Cor. 1:18; Rom. 6:4) (Daily Food, book 2, week 3, Monday, p. 40).
