1. The Lord Jesus is mobilizing all generations of the church—children, teenagers, youth, senior stewards, and, more recently, David’s mighty men (aged 30 to 49). God calls everyone to get involved so that the churches may be emancipated with a view to multiplication and consolidation, thus cooperating in the establishment of the kingdom of heaven on Earth (Matt. 24:14).
2. Just like the three soldiers who, upon hearing King David’s “sigh,” immediately went to fetch water from the well near the gate of the city of Bethlehem, those who are in the age group of David’s mighty men have the special function of putting into practice the longing that is in God’s heart (2 Sam 23: 15 16; 1 Chr 11: 17-18).
3. David’s mighty men must closely follow the prophetic word, for God’s work is not accomplished by human ability. We must be proactive, ready to serve and carry out the Lord’s will, but never lose our dependence on the guidance spoken through the apostles (Acts 2:42; 6: 1-4).
4. “The church received power from the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost for this purpose: to bring faith in Christ to all languages, peoples, and nations. May we be those who fulfill God’s will without fearing the persecutions that come from the cross of Christ! (Acts 1:8) (Daily Food, book 5, week 2, Monday, p. 24).
