- The cause of the degradation, the disease that took hold in the church, was that another line had been drawn, different from the line of Peter and Paul. The line of the apostles was one of faith, of signs, of miracles. The line of Jerusalem was to follow the law. Since there were tens of thousands of people, many ended up opposing the work of the Spirit. The church in Jerusalem no longer persevered in the teaching of the apostles as it had done in the beginning. (Gal 3:5; Acts 21:19).
- We have the prophetic word as a lamp. It is the word that gives us direction; we are not lost. The lamp will lead us in the direction of the coming of the Lord Jesus. No one invents anything; true prophets speak, on behalf of God, only what He commands (2 Peter 1:19).
- The awakening of old remembrance is to follow the prophetic word, the word of the apostles. The recipients of Peter’s epistles were not contaminated by the second phase of the church in Jerusalem, which mixed the law with faith. Those they should remember and listen to are the prophets and the apostles (2 Pet. 1:12; 3:1-2).
- “The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Only the Son of God, who became flesh, could save us from sin (1 John 1:7). No ordinary man, but only Jesus, is qualified to accomplish eternal redemption (Heb. 9:12); therefore, every drop of this blood is precious” (1 Peter 1:18-19) (Daily Food, Book 4, Week 3, Saturday, p. 50).
