- The God of heaven, the Head of the church, did not arm the church with tanks, guns, and missiles, but armed it with the Holy Spirit: “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31). Our weapon is the word, and it is the power of the Holy Spirit that gives us the power to speak the word with boldness (Acts 4:29-31; Eph. 1:21-23; Col. 1:18).
- God’s answer to the church’s prayer is not for God to vindicate my suffering, but to arm me with more power from the Spirit so that I can preach the gospel and carry this word forward. Sending immersion to our contacts is a powerful weapon. Many will receive immersion and benefit from the word of the Lord. This is the way you speak the word with boldness (Acts 5:12-14; 2 Cor. 10:4; Eph. 6:17).
- Our response to all pressure and persecution is to preach the gospel, to take the word of this Life to the people. This is the new dispensation, the dispensation of faith, of the Spirit, of grace; it is the time of the church. You can count on all of this, which is available to the church. You have the Holy Spirit and the word, which works miracles, things that only God can do (Acts 5:17-24).
- “In the New Testament, God desires to gain people who are born of the Spirit. Such people follow the Spirit without knowing where it is going (John 3:8), and the result is newness of life. … Living under the law is living in a repetitive way, without joy. The Spirit brings newness and freedom. Let us not remain in the letter!” (Romans 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:17) (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 3, Saturday, p. 54).
