DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Saturday | Msg. 25 – God’s covenant with Abraham Concerning the Seed and the Land

1. When an animal was sacrificed, the one offering laid his hands on it so that there would be identification. God asked Abraham to make the offerings himself; a servant could not substitute for him. Thank God, when we believe in Christ, we are identified and united to Him—not only in His death, but also in His resurrection (Genesis 15:9-10; Leviticus 1:4; Romans 6:3-4).

2. While Abraham was presenting the offerings, birds of prey came and tried to snatch them away. These birds represent Satan and his angels, who seek to nullify the work of Christ in the church. Even in the time of the apostle Paul, the enemy of God tried, through the law, to nullify grace and the work of the Spirit. He will always try to hinder the action of the Spirit in the church (Genesis 15:11; Galatians 5:2, 4).

3. After offering the sacrifices as God had commanded him, Abraham fell into a deep sleep and was overcome by great fear and thick darkness. What does this mean? We are in a battle of kingdoms. For God’s will to be established, there are arduous battles. We need the intercession of our High Priest. Let us be ready to fight (Genesis 15:12-16; Hebrews 7:25).

4. “If, instead of believing, you question the word, you distance yourself from the living God, who is the One who guides us each day. Therefore, believe in the word. Live the church life intensely, immersing yourself in the word, shouting war cries. In fellowship with the brothers and sisters, we are exhorted not to have an unbelieving heart” (Hebrews 3:13-19) (Daily Food, book 2, week 3, Saturday, p. 53).
