- God created the heavens, the earth, and man with one spirit, so that He would rule over all. His will is for Christ to be head over all things, both in heaven and on earth. To do this, He wants to produce obedience through faith. Through the prophetic word, He is doing His work! (Eph 1:9-10).
- In Christ all things were created, that He might rule over all things, and in Him all things might hold together. The word “holds together” in the original Greek is “sunistao”, and it means to establish, to place, to join, to unite all the parts into one whole. This is exactly the work of a ruler: to unite all the parts into one whole (Col 1:13-17).
- This is the work that God has done among us: a finely tuned orchestra, which obeys Christ and does so by listening to His word. Through the word we hear His command, He directs us and we understand the time and manner to act. It is through His word that God works His will! (2 Pet 3:2; 1:19).
- Diotrephes represents a group of church leaders at that time, and it is regrettable that he rejected both the person of John and the word of life that came from him. Diotrephes rejected John’s authority as an apostle. Apostles have authority over the churches for edification, not for destruction (2 Cor. 10:8; 13:10)” (3 John 9-10) (Daily Food, Book 3, Week 4, Sunday, p. 71).
