- The recipients of the Second Epistle of Peter did not have the Bible in their hands, but only the words of the prophets of the Old Testament and the very words of that moment of the apostle Peter (the prophetic word), that indicated the right direction to be followed.
- No prophet can give his own interpretation concerning the word of God in order to direct the people of God. The word of the prophets should come from the revelation given by God. In Galatians 1: 11-12, the apostle Paul affirms that his word came from the revelation of Jesus Christ. John also affirmed this in Revelation 1:1, because he knew that he did not have the right nor the freedom to speak his own words.
- In Deuteronomy 18:18-20 there is a principle that refers to Jesus, but that applies to all other prophets: the prophet does not have the freedom to speak according to his own interpretation, but should speak what God put in his mouth, His word of command (2 Pet 1:20-21).
- “It is through the word of life that we overcome the world. Our mission here on Earth is not yet finished. We still have to live in this world to edify the church, go out into the streets to rescue people, and preach the gospel of the kingdom. The way to obtain victory is to be sanctified in the truth by the word (John 17:17)” (Daily Food, Book 2, Week1, Sunday, pg 21).
