- After being released from prison in Rome, Paul asked Timothy to remain in Ephesus because there were some people who were bringing Jewish fables instead of the apostles’ teaching. Not to teach different things means not to teach differently than what the apostle brings, which are living words from God (1 Tim 1:3-4).
- In the year AD 90, John was used to lead the church back to the teaching of the apostles, to the word of life, which is the only word that leads to eternal life. And whoever accepted the apostle’s word was introduced into fellowship with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ, through the apostle (1 John 1:3).
- We need to keep the Body healthy. In the absence of the supply of God’s word, the quest for prominence, fame, and followers was the consequence. Degradation began in the church, which resulted in its “Babylonian captivity.” Symbolically, the church was destroyed and taken into captivity. Now, however, the cause of the disease has been revealed, and health is being restored because we love the present truth and are advancing in the work of the Lord (3 John 9-10).
- “We are at the end of the church age. It is not worth living for the world. Let us fight for the will of God. We have been bought at a high price and now let us live a holy life because God is holy (1 Pet. 1:22)” (Daily Food, Book 4, Week 3, Sunday, p. 52).
