- God does not require us to be able to do works for Him, but He does require, as the sole condition, that we diligently listen to His voice. This is a requirement that we can all fulfill! We can immerse ourselves in the word, ruminate on it, send it to people through immersion; and the rest of the work, He will do! (Ex 19:5; Ne 8:12).
- The restoration of the wall of Jerusalem means restoring reverent love for God’s Word and recognizing that He does indeed govern His people when they obey His Word. Man wants to please God by offering Him burnt offerings and sacrifices, but His delight is in those who obey His Word (1 Sam. 15:22; 2 Chr. 20:20).
- Those who believe in the Word of God brought by the prophets and believe that the Word of God itself has the power to perform His work with signs and wonders are “within the wall,” for they recognize the authority of God in His Word. The Spirit has freedom to perform the work according to God’s will (1 Thess. 2:13; Acts 7:38-39, 51).
- “Christ fulfilled God’s plan, beginning with His incarnation, through His perfect human life of total obedience to God, and culminating in His vicarious death on the cross, the Righteous for the unrighteous, for the purpose of bringing man to God. This is the great victory!” (Phil. 2:7-8; 1 Pet. 3:18) (Daily Food, Book 5, Week 3, Sunday, p. 54).
