DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Sunday | Msg. 19 – The Flood

1. The dove feeds on life, not death. The dove that Noah released after the flood returned to the ark; there was nowhere for it to land, for life takes a while to sprout. When he released it the third time, it brought forth a new olive leaf, which represents life! Those who live a healthy church life feed on life, not death. We don’t want to hear gossip, criticism, and the like. We are “doves”: we feed on life (Genesis 8:8-11; John 10:10).

2. Noah opened the ark’s covering and saw that the ground was dry, but he didn’t leave yet. Although he could have left, since the earth was already dry, he didn’t do so until God commanded him to do so. We should do the same: not follow our own logic, but the word of God. When the Lord told Noah and his family to leave the ark, they did (Genesis 8:13-16; Luke 5:5; John 15:14).

3. God preserved life on Earth so that His will could be accomplished. Now, it’s up to you and me to hasten this purpose. Let’s be like David’s mighty men, entering the Lord’s “military service.” And all the other brothers and sisters—teenagers, pre-teens, captains (soldiers twenty and older), senior stewards—let’s all get involved in hastening the coming of the Son of Man (Gen. 8:20-22; 2 Pet. 3:12).

4. “The book of Revelation shows us the Lamb along with one hundred and forty-four thousand (Revelation 14:1). These are the overcoming Christians who have engaged in the church life and the struggle for the kingdom. The Lord will rapture them at His coming. They are the first fruits, without deceit in their mouths and without blemish, because they have been filled with the truth (vv. 4-5). O Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 12:5, 11) (Daily Food, book 1, week 1, Sunday, p. 20).
