1. Without engaging in practical actions, we will not experience being filled with the Spirit. Immersion in the Word or war cries is not enough—it is necessary to serve alongside all the saints. God desires to build us up together with other brothers and sisters and form in us a foundation of love, for only in His love will we be built up (Eph 3:17-19; 1 Cor 13:13).
2. If we walk in the presence of God, we will be perfected. Perfection is God’s own love—a love that never ends. The greatest of all is love. By serving with the saints, agape love will be generated among us. This is the work that God is doing in our midst (Gal 5:22; 1 John 4:8; 1 Pet 4:8).
3. Abram means “exalted father”; Abraham means “father of a multitude.” God does not seek exalted fathers, but fathers of multitudes who will take the whole Earth for Him. Christ died and rose again in order to generate a heavenly offspring—the many children—through whom the Lord’s will shall prosper in the church. Therefore, our mission is to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in all cities (Genesis 17:4; John 12:24; Isaiah 53:5,10).
4. “The word needs to take away from us all emptiness, the elements of the old man, of sin and death, and constitute us with truth. Not truth as biblical knowledge, but the very reality of God, which is being implanted in us. This is being filled with Christ, because Christ is the truth. Before we were full of vanity, now we are being filled with truth” (John 17:17; Ephesians 5:26) (Daily Food, book 2, week 4, Sunday, p. 71).
