DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Sunday | Msg. 27 – Circumcision and the Promise of a Son to Sarah

1. Putting off the old self is the process of circumcision. Christ died for us, and we are united to His death. We therefore have the reality of putting off the body of the flesh—the old self. Let’s take off this “garment” which is the old self, for it is corrupted by the deceitful desires. Let’s do it now! (Ephesians 4:22).

2. Let us renew ourselves in the spirit of our minds. Who renews our minds? The Spirit, through the word, washes us, rejuvenates us, and renews our minds. Thus, we will be able to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:23-24).

3. Sarah became the mother of many nations, including us, because from her came the Descendant, who is Christ. When Christ went to the cross, He shed His blood and with it purchased all of us, from every tribe, tongue, and nation. Today we belong to God: we have been constituted a kingdom of priests and we will reign on earth (Genesis 17:15-16; Revelation 5:9-10).

4. “[In the book of Job], the Lord shows Job that the problem was not with God, but within Job himself. In each of us there is an “utterly proud one”, an “all-haughty one”. We become proud of the good we do, of our integrity, of being God-fearing and of turning away from evil. But what is the source of this?” (Job 40:6-11) (Daily Food, book 3, week 1, Sunday, p. 20).
