- When we leave the prophetic word and follow the law, we leave the realm of miracle-working where the Spirit does the work of God, to be perfected in the flesh. Then the Lord’s work in the church is stopped (Gal. 5:16, 24; John 3:6).
- God’s work is of the Spirit. He does not depend on human ability to accomplish it. God chose the despised things, the things that are not, to shame the things that are, because power does not come from men, but from God (1 Cor 1:27-28).
- God gives direction to the church through the word of the apostles, not the words of men, but of God. This word produces and works effectively when we believe and welcome it into our hearts. When we believe in the word, the Spirit has freedom to rule and do God’s will in the church (1 Thess 2:13).
- “The church is here to do God’s will! When we are willing to do it, He Himself will take care of our needs. Sometimes the Lord wants to test our hearts, and we may go through situations of deprivation. This happens not because He is not caring for us, but because He wants us to trust Him and serve Him with a pure heart” (Phil. 4:6-7; Matt. 5:8) (Daily Food, Book 4, Week 1, Thursday, p. 14).
