DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Thursday | Mess. 11 – Hagar and Sarah: Two Covenants

  1. When Abraham arrived in Canaan, the Lord appeared to him again and spoke to him, saying that He would give that land to his descendants. Thus, we see that Abraham built an altar to worship the Lord. We do not see that he complained about not having a descendant. He believed in the Lord, who is the Almighty (Genesis 12:7).

  1. When Abraham heard that his nephew had been captured, he gathered 318 men born in his house and went to fight against much larger armies. Today, we are like this. We are the little flock; we have little strength, but we have the true God! We have the heart of Abraham, who trusts and believes in the Lord. We have few who can fight, but they are committed (Gen. 14:14-16).

  1. The Lord appeared to Abraham and said, “Do not be afraid, Abraham. I am your shield, and your exceedingly great reward.” The descendants of the promise, coming from Isaac and represented by the stars in the heaven, refer to the heavenly Jerusalem: it is the church! It is not the Jewish people on earth, but the stars in the heaven (Gen. 15:1-6).

  1. “Preaching the word of truth is salvation for people. When someone hears the gospel and believes, he or she is sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. This means that the word of truth has the power to produce salvation and the fruits of the Spirit” (Eph. 1:13) (Daily Food, Book 7, Week 1, Thursday, p. 13).
