DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Thursday | Mess. 2 – Problems in Jerusalem and the Advancement of the Church Among the Nations

  1. Peter was accused by the Jews because he entered the house of Gentiles and ate with them (Acts 11:1-3), for they were considered impure and unclean by the Jews. Some of the Greek Gentiles who believed in the Lord lived in Antioch and established themselves as the church in that city, being called Christians for the first time (Acts 11:26).

  1. There arose within the church in Jerusalem a party that practiced Judaism and tried to maintain this practice in the church life, even after they believed in the Lord Jesus. This attitude served to oppose the prophetic word, the teaching of the apostles, of which Peter was commissioned (Acts 6:7; Acts 15:1,5; 21:17-25).

  1. In Acts 15:5 we see the uprising of the members of the sect of the Pharisees, who had believed in the Lord Jesus, forming a faction in the church in Jerusalem, and which competed with the teaching of the apostles. We must believe that the Lord’s death and resurrection were intended to uproot us from this evil world (Gal 1:4), which includes the religious world described in the context of Acts 15:5-21.

  1. The holy being that has been begotten within us grows as Christ expands His dwelling place in our hearts by the circulation of the word of life, until it is consummated in the man-child. The purpose of the Son of God being begotten within us is to make us grow into mature children, ready to inherit the Father’s inheritance (Rom. 8:17) (Daily Food, Book 4, Week 2, Thursday, p. 29).
