DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Thursday | Mess. 3 – The Reasons for Babylonian Captivity

  1. The last chapter of the Second Book of Chronicles shows the beginning of the Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah spoke on behalf of the LORD. However, the blame was not only on the rulers and priests, but also on the people. Today the house of the Lord is the church. God speaks through His messengers. From the rising up in the early morning, God speaks through these messengers (2 Chr 36:11-15; 1 Tim 3:15).

  1. The reason for the Babylonian captivity was that the people abandoned God’s word and His government. We must listen to God’s word so that He can govern us. In the wilderness, everyone did what they wanted, but in the good land we have a command. If you kill God’s prophets, God’s messengers, the one who is governing is man. And the government of man leads to disaster (2 Chr 36:16-19).

  1. The Lord honored the apostle Peter, the main speaker, who was used to open the door of the church to the Gentiles. Until the Pentecost, only Jews believed and were baptized by the Holy Spirit. But God desires to bring all people into the Body of Christ, the church (Col. 3:10-11; 1 Cor. 12:13).

  1. “How important is our obedience to the word! Our fight is not with flesh and blood, and it takes place in our mind, which is the leading part of the soul. Therefore, the mind needs to be renewed so that we can prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Rom 12:2)” (Daily Food, Book 4, Week 3, Thursday, p. 46).
