- After being away from God’s Word for so long, as soon as the wall of Jerusalem was restored, the people of Israel wanted to know and follow the Lord’s commandments, reestablishing God’s government there. Not only men, but also women, young people and all those who were able to understand what they heard were important (Nehemiah 8:1-2).
- The Levites, mentioned in chapter 8 of Nehemiah, fulfilled the role of helping the priest to bring the word to the people of God. When the word is understood by us, it makes all the difference, because it can act in our lives. Thank the Lord we have many “Levites” among us, who help people to understand the word of God (Nehemiah 8:7-8).
- Once this word is understood and engraved in us, there is a festive atmosphere! The revelation of God’s word brings understanding and, consequently, joy to the people. Today, this joy spreads throughout the earth, reaching all the churches that have received and understood this revelation (Neh 8:10-12; Ps 119:130).
- “We are at the end of the church dispensation, and we are responsible for carrying out God’s will in our day. Christ must head up all things, but first He must head up each of us and the church as a whole. Then this age will end, and the Lord will return. This is our hope!” (Eph. 1:9-10; Ps. 39:7) (Daily Food, Book 5, Week 3, Thursday, p. 49).
