- When Samuel was sent to anoint Saul as king over Israel, he told him, “Now therefore, heed the voice of words of the LORD”. This is the first requirement for a king: to heed to the word of the Lord. Likewise, when He brought the people of Israel out of Egypt, God told them on Mount Sinai to diligently obey His voice and keep His covenant (Exod. 19:5-6; 1 Sam. 15:1).
- When we disobey the Lord’s voice and follow our own logic, we do evil in the sight of the Lord. What is important to God is that His people listen carefully and obey His word. What God wants is reality. He has always desired that His people would diligently listen to His word and put it into practice (Deut. 28:1; Rom. 8:14; John 3:8).
- In Genesis 12:2-3, when God promised to make Abraham a great nation, and that all the families of the earth would be blessed in him, He foretold the gospel of justification by faith to the Gentiles. Thus, all who believe are blessed with Abraham who believed (Gal. 3:7-9).
- “The Thessalonians received the word of the apostle Paul not as the word of man, but as the word of God, and they received it only because they received it by faith” (1 Thess. 2:13), (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 2, Thursday, p. 30).
