- We often confuse the things of the soul with those of the spirit, thinking they are the same thing, but they are not. Only the word of God is able to discern the thoughts and purposes of the heart. The word enlightens us, so we see that we still have many impurities. Thank God, it cleanses and purifies us (Heb 4:12; Eph 5:26).
- God’s rest is on the last day. He created all things in six days and rested on the seventh. To God one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. We are at the very end of the sixth day, on the threshold of the seventh day, the dispensation of the millennial kingdom, which represents God’s rest. Today we can participate in the promise of reigning with Christ, of entering into God’s rest (2 Pet. 3:8; Heb. 4:9-10; Rev. 20:6).
- Man lives in the sphere of time and space; of logical reasoning, but the things of God are in another sphere. God wants to take us to another sphere, that of faith and divine life. Therefore, He wants us to eat from the tree of life (Heb 11:3; Gen 2:9).
- “And to knowledge we must add self-control, which is one who has control over his desires and passions, who is temperate, moderate, measured, and sober, someone who recognizes when he is going beyond and controls himself. All this comes from the word of God” (1 Pet. 1:6) (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 3, Thursday, p. 48).
