- What stimulates us is the Word, the exhortation in Christ, the comfort of love, the fellowship of the Spirit, and the deep affections and mercies. The word we have received, together with the immersion and the war cry, must produce something, and not just good behavior. It must become a tool in the hands of God, so that He can work and bring the Lord back (Phil. 2:1-2).
- To complete the joy of the Lord is to fulfill the Father’s good pleasure, so that we think the same thing. Coherence, in physics, is to be in the same phase —as when pushing a swing: if we do it at the wrong time, we disrupt the movement. To be united in soul is not to diminish or cancel out one another, but to add to it (Phil. 2:2; Eph. 1:9-10, 22-23).
- As human beings, we have a hard time focusing on the same point. I have my way of doing things; you have yours. But God wants us to be like a laser beam so He can accomplish His work. He wants us to have the same mind in order to carry out the Father’s will and bring back our dear Lord (Phil. 2:2).
- “We are all in a new stage, and in this new stage God has given the Holy Spirit to all of us! Our hearts are purified because we believe in Jesus and receive forgiveness of sins. This happens through faith in Jesus, and not through circumcision or the Law of Moses” (Acts 15:8-9; 10:43) (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 1, Thursday, p. 13).
