1. We live in the days leading up to the coming of the Son of Man. The world situation points to this — the tumultuous political, economic, and social scenario indicates the nearness of the end. And what precedes the end is the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom through the church (Matthew 24:14).
2. It is no accident that the Lord has placed us in the church. He gives us a serious warning: are we going to continue to live as everyone else does—eating, drinking, indulging in the pleasures of the flesh, marrying and giving in marriage? We must not conform to living as the world does. We are fighting for the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ to come sooner, and His government to be established on Earth. This is our desire (Matthew 24:36-44).
3. If we heed the Lord’s call today and rise up in the fight for His kingdom through the preaching of the gospel, we will be part of Zion. Our longing is for the gospel to be proclaimed throughout the Earth (Matt. 24:14; Ps. 110:1-3; Rev. 14:1).
4. “Just as gold is refined by fire, faith, which is far more precious, also needs to be tested and purified. This is because the value of faith is directly related to its purity. God needs the impurities removed from our souls so that the value of our faith may be increased” (1 Peter 1:6-7). (Daily Food, book 5, week 4, Thursday, p. 65).
