1. The word of the Lord is not systematic teaching, in which one hears, studies, and then puts to the test. It is living and effective. Therefore, we need to extract the maximum from it day by day: every spiritual principle, every lesson, and every truth of the Lord. If this does not happen, we will not know how to apply it practically in our daily lives (Jeremiah 29:13; John 4:23; Hebrews 4:12).
2. God’s promise is the greatest blessing. Everything that begins with God’s blessing prospers. Man, desperately needs divine blessing—not material blessings, for these are consequences of walking with God and doing His will. True blessing is granted so that man may fulfill God’s will (Genesis 26:1 3).
3. Those who submit to God, do His will, and obey His Word are blessed. We need to have the same heart as Abraham, who found the true God. He possessed many earthly things, but his heart was not in them, but rather in doing God’s will. He knew that everything he had was to serve the Lord. May we have the same heart! (Genesis 22:18; 26:3).
4. “’Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him’ (Genesis 5:24). But what does it mean to walk with God? It is to live in constant fellowship with Him, hearing His word and seeking to know what is in His heart. To walk with God is to learn what He loves, to understand His thoughts, to discern His purpose, and to align oneself with His will” (Daily Food, book 5, week 3, Thursday, p. 46)
