- The development of subjective faith occurs through the word (Rom 10:17). Faith comes to us when we first hear the word, so the body is the first part of our tripartite being reached by faith. From then on we need to receive it into our soul (1 Pet 1:9).
- Once in our soul, the word will first reach our mind and emotions; the will is responsible for the decision to take possession of the word and introduce it into our spirit. Thus the word will be projected into our heart, becoming our subjective faith (Col 3:16; Gal 2:20).
- The entrance of God’s words into our inner being enlightens and gives understanding to the simple. God wants to dwell in the hearts of those who have a humble spirit and are receptive to His word. The light of God is still something objective, external to us; however, it can become our subjective light through the word and give us understanding (Ps 119:130; Isa 66:2).
- “Our soul needs transformation and sanctification. To this end, God is removing from it all lies and falsehood and filling us with truth. To this end, He has given us a way: the word of life, which comes to us through the apostles and introduces us into the fellowship of life. This fellowship of life constitutes us with the truth” (John 17:17; 1 John 1:1-3) (Daily Food, Book 3, Week 4, Tuesday, p. 59).
